In 1975, the original Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League (BAKSAL) dissolved the multiparty framework with the stroke of a legislative pen through the Fourth Amendment, outlawing political opposition and nationalizing the press. In the modern era—between 2009 and 2024—a far more insidious reincarnation took hold: BAKSAL 2.0.
